This team is going to make the playoffs.
There is simply no way they endure the amount of injuries a year ago.
All those kids are now comfortable with the pace and speed and more importantly length of NHL season.
With Rico & Silf & Getz along with the big 3 on D coupled with The best goaltending duo in the league the kids flourish.
This team is going to still be incredibly young but with games under their belt they grow very nicely.
No RC + health & youth = playoffs

The Ducks are not making the playoffs... The team is no better than last season and the reality of it is that they only finished 10 points out because of a ridiculous start they had to the season.
The Ducks were a team that were due to decline. The smart move here is for ANH to NOT trade their younger players and start the rebuild. |

You may or may not be right. Also remember the horrendous stretch from December to February (when Carlyle was finally fired) where the Ducks only won something like 2 games. Once Murray went behind the bench the Ducks went 14-11-1 to finish the season (and cost the team a potential top 5 pick).
Throw in kids Troy Terry, Sam Steel, Max Jones, Max Comtois and who knows, maybe they surprise. When you have arguably a top 5 goalie in the league, anything can happen. |

The Ducks didn't do anything to improve over the off-season, while other teams in the West did. It's looking like only 3 teams from the Pacific are going to make the playoffs this season, so Anaheim will have to jump one of San Jose, Calgary, or Vegas to make it in. I don't see that happening. They have a good shot at 4th in the Pacific if all goes well, it just won't be enough to get them in the postseason. |

Firing Carlyle was the biggest improvement league wide, its not even debatable.

I don't think this is a playoff team. Frankly, they could do a little bit better than they did last year and as long as the kids improve and Guhle steps up and Gibson doesn't get injured - it would be considered a success.
With Honka requesting a trade, I would much prefer Honka for a 2nd in 2021 instead of Faulk for Kase. He won't get as many points, but the Ducks could use another great draft position to really set them up for the future and they could do that this year. |

Addition by subtraction. Ducks got better dumping carlyle, freeing up a roster spot and cap space by not having an injured kesler play, and eaves sitting out all year. Getting rid of perry and his contract. Now giving all the prospects a chance to show what they can do. |

Hey - with you guys losing Eaves and Kesler, you need some forwards with NHL experience, right?
Any interest in Frolik? Flames need to make room for Tkachuk's contract and Frolik looks like the odd man out. He can probably be had for pretty cheap. You interested?
How about a 3rd and a 4th pick in 2020 for him? You can likely get a 2nd or 3rd back for him at the trade deadline - which makes it a 4th for him for half a season and you guys get closer to the cap floor. |

Normal situations, I'd say yeah. I like Frolik, although I have no idea what his cap hit is. But the Ducks need a decent right shot defenseman. How about giving the Ducks Hamonic fora 2nd? That would solve your cap problems, too. |

No go. We need Hamonic, he is a key part of the D. Also he wants to play in Western Canada - he likely would not accept a trade to the Ducks. Frolik's cap hit is 4.3 mil or around that range.

I would have liked Frolik a year ago to let the kids percolate .. Not now though we need the RHD and no, Stone is not an option.
